Superior Court Judges Appoint First Hispanic to Lead the Probation Department in Madera County

Madera County, CA – The judges of the Superior Court make historic appointment
selecting Rick Galindo to serve as the new Chief Probation Officer of Madera County.
Galindo becomes the first Hispanic to lead the Probation Department. Galindo succeeds
his mentor Chris Childers and will be sworn in during the October 7 Board meeting.
Chief Galindo rose to the top as a champion of innovation and public service over his
28-year career with the department.

Chief Galindo plans to advance the amazing work of the
department, “I am deeply honored to serve as Chief
Probation Officer for Madera County. Our department has a
proud tradition of integrity, dedication to public safety, and
providing quality services to those we serve. My vision is to
continue that work while guiding the department toward the
future with innovation and purpose. By keeping science-based,
evidence-driven practices at the core of our efforts,
we will strengthen rehabilitation, reduce recidivism, and
promote accountability. I am committed to supporting our
staff, working closely with our justice partners, and ensuring that Madera County
Probation remains a trusted leader in protecting our community and fostering positive
change.”

Highlighting his commitment to mentorship and service, Mr. Galindo also serves as an
adjunct lecturer for local community colleges.
