Madera County, CA – Librarians in Madera County are showcasing how math can be fun, no matter how old you are, thanks to a new national grant. Recently, Madera County Library’s Chowchilla Branch became just one of 20 libraries in the country, and the only one in California, to receive a grant from the Simons Foundation spearheading a national math initiative. The grant of $10,000 will fund community engagement with hands-on, interactive math experiences for all ages. Those library experiences will be featured on three specific days. Pi Day (3/14/26), Infinity Day (8/8/26), and Fibonnaci Day (11/23/26).
The Chowchilla Branch will hold a Pi Day event all about circles. Including circle-shaped refreshments and activities around spherical bubbles. It’s a chance to come together to explore how math shows up in everyday life.
