The IHSS Public Authority of Madera County works to improve access to quality in-home care by connecting eligible seniors, individuals with disabilities, and children to qualified caregivers so they can safely remain at home. It supports this mission by enrolling caregivers, coordinating Department of Justice background checks, maintaining a provider registry, and fostering positive relationships between recipients and providers.

Who is eligable to be a provider?

Certification Process

1. Submit Application: Complete and sign the IHSS Program Provider Enrollment Form (SOC 426).

2. Attend Orientation: Attend a mandatory in-person or online orientation to learn about program rules and provider responsibilities.

3. Provide 2 references: can be work or personal.

4. Background Check (Live Scan): Complete a Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint background check.

5. Provide Identification: Submit a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID and your social security card.

6. Sign Enrollment Agreement: Sign the IHSS Provider Enrollment Agreement (SOC 846), which outlines the rules and regulations you must follow.

7. Provide proof of legal right to work.
