Euthanasia
Sometimes the hardest part of being a loving pet owner is making the decision to have your pet humanely euthanized. The Madera Animal Shelter does not have a licensed veterinarian on staff. Please contact your local veterinarian for euthanasia services or concerns.
The shelter may assist in limited cases involving owned pets experiencing a medical emergency, such as traumatic injury, sudden illness, life-threatening age-related illness, or unmanaged pain. A veterinarian’s note must be presented at the time of evaluation. Euthanasia is not guaranteed and will be determined by the shelter Director or Supervisor. We reserve the right to refuse euthanasia services if we determine they are not required.
We cannot accept pets for euthanasia from anyone other than the pet’s legal owner. Friends, family members, or other individuals may not request euthanasia on behalf of the owner.
Please remember that our facility does not have a licensed veterinarian on staff.
