In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Madera County Library System has adapted its Summer Reading Program to function online. While, at this time, we cannot gather as we traditionally would at our library branches, we can still be together online.

Beanstack is the platform where our Virtual Summer Reading Program takes place. Create a family account to log reading and participate in various challenges.

Madera County Library's YouTube Channel
Madera County Library has created a YouTube Channel where we post virtual story time, virtual field trips, and some of our performer videos.

Live Summer Reading Program events are held on Facebook. Stay connected with us on Facebook! Follow your favorite branches for up to date information

2020 Summer Reading Program Performers

Traditionally our libraries would host performers throughout the summer as a show of appreciation for our patrons and community. With the gathering guidelines during the current COVID-19 pandemic constantly changing this year's performances have gone digital. Our various Friends of the Library groups have donated to/purchased access  for virtual content provided by performers who would normally visit our libraries.

2020 Summer Videos:

The Science Wizard
The Science Wizard is a professional children's entertainer and improv comic who has performed literally hundreds of shows for children and adults alike. With a specialty in birthday parties and school assemblies, your kids are guaranteed to have an experience they will never forget!

Summer Special for Kids

Summer Special for Teens

Steve Riley
Steven Riley has been writing and illustrating stories for as long as he can remember. His love for books was born in him many years ago as his Mom would read him stories before he went to bed each night. Among his favorites were Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, and The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess.

Thanks to the Friends Groups of Oakhurst, North Fork, and Chowchilla Branch Libraries for purchasing some fun art videos produced by Steve Riley.

Oakhurst and North Forks Friends also paid for Steve Riley's  Art Classes for the Summer Art Program challenge on Beanstack!
