Important Notice About Your CalFresh Benefits

Due to the federal government shutdown, there may be a delay to CalFresh benefits. Here's what you need to know:

CalFresh (Food Stamps):

November Benefits may be delayed if the federal government shutdown continues past October 23rd. If you need food now, you can contact the Madera County Food Bank at (559) 674-1482.

CalWORKs (Cash Aid):

CalWORKs benefits for the month of November 2025 are not impacted.

CalWORKs

CalWORKs is a welfare program that gives cash aid and services to eligible California families in need. If a family is in need, CalWORKs may be able to help with housing, food, utilities, clothing or medical care, they may be eligible to receive immediate short-term help. Families that apply and qualify for ongoing assistance receive money each month to help pay for housing, food and other necessary expenses. LEARN MORE

Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA)

RCA is a cash assistance program for refugees who are not otherwise eligible for any other cash aid. RCA also includes employment and other social services to assist a refugee in becoming self-sufficient. Learn more HERE

Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)

CAPI is a 100 percent state-funded program designed to provide monthly cash benefits to aged, blind, or disabled non-citizens who are ineligible for SSI/SSP solely due to their immigration status. Learn more HERE

Trafficking and Crime Victim Assistance Program (TCVAP)

TCVAP is a cash assistance program for non-citizen victims of crime who are in need of immediate services, and who are obtaining a legal humanitarian status or assisting in the prosecution of a crime. Learn more HERE
