According to Madera County's Business License Ordinance, all businesses in the County must have a valid business license. Application documents may be downloaded and must be submitted to and approved by the Community and Economic Development located at 200 W. 4th Street, Madera. Faxes will not be accepted. A “business” means any activity, trade, calling, profession or occupation engaged in by any person with the object of gaining benefit, profit, or advantage of anyone and generally applies to a fixed place of business.

A business license must be displayed in a conspicuous place at all times. Exemptions apply to veterans and entrepreneurs operating within a city limit and who possess a current city license. Please call the Treasurer/Tax Collector’s office for more information at (559) 675-7713.

Delinquent Licenses

A delinquent fee of forty dollars will be added to the license renewal fee if not paid by the due date. If a license is not renewed within 60 days of the due date, the license will expire and a new application will have to be processed through the Madera County Community and Economic Development, Planning Division.
