Business License Renewal Cycles

Short-Term Rentals and Lodging renewals will expire annually in February.

Postmarked on or before February 28th = $104.00

All Business License (excluding short-term rental operators) renewals will expire annually in August.

Postmarked on or before August 31st = $59.00

 Additional delinquent fees will be assessed if payment is not received timely.

Online: Sign up or login to your profile. An access code must first be obtained by our office before signing up.

By Mail or via Dropbox: Checks, cashier's checks, and money orders can be placed in the dropbox located in the main lobby of the Government Center. Mail your payment by using the Orchid colored return envelope to:

A delinquent fee of forty dollars will be added to the license renewal cost if not paid by the due date. If a license is not renewed within 30 days of the due date, the licensee will incur a delinquent fee annually until the license is renewed or closed and will be required to pay all delinquent license fees, violation fees, penalties and interest at the time of renewal or closure.

In the event the license becomes delinquent, null, void, or revoked, the tax collector is authorized to repossess said license. Any business license repossessed shall not be returned to the licensee until such licensee has fully paid all delinquent fees, violation fees, penalties and interest incurred and accrued by reason of such delinquencies or violations.

-Madera County has updated its business license renewal cycles per Ordinance No. 475G.  

Transition Plan for Affected Licensees

TOT such as Short-Term Rental's, and any Lodging Operators currently in the August cycle will be transitioned to the February cycle. 

All other Business Licenses in the February Cycle (excluding short-term rental operators) will be transitioned to the August cycle.

- Per Business and Professions Code 16000.2 enacted on September 23, 2023, you are hereby notified that all single-user toilet facilities in any business establishment, place of public accommodation, or government agency must be identified as all-gender toilet facilities.

- Refer to the Madera County Ordinance Chapter 5.04 for rules and regulations pertaining to the application, posession, and maintenance of a business license. **Last updated 2/4/25**

- Applicants who are exempt from paying the license fees are still required to pay state regulated fees at the time of application and renewal.

- Enforcement action will be taken against non-compliant business owners and licensees that fail to renew their business license.
