Important notice regarding online property tax payments
The Online Property Tax Service allows the public to pay, print, and view Madera County property tax bills. You must have your 12-digit assessment number or 12-digit fee parcel number to pay your taxes online. Searching by assessment number returns only that assessment. Searching by fee parcel returns all bills associated with a parcel, including supplemental and unsecured. If you do not have your fee parcel or assessment number, you may also search by street address.
The County of Madera contracts with a third-party vendor to accept credit card, debit card, and e-check payments on our behalf, both online and through our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. A convenience fee charged by the vendor applies. You must review and accept all fees before authorizing payment.
Fees and limits
- Debit or credit card: 2.35% of transaction amount
- Electronic check (e-check): free, up to $499,999.99 per transaction
Payments may take up to 90 minutes to appear as PAID online. A confirmation number will be provided as your receipt once the transaction is complete.
Any property tax payment returned by your financial institution as unpaid, for any reason, will be assessed a $50.00 returned check fee and may also be subject to applicable delinquent penalties.
Important: payment system availability
The Madera County Tax Collector does not guarantee that payment websites or phone systems will be available without interruption. If payment is not received by the delinquent date indicated on your tax bill, the taxpayer is responsible for any penalties required by State law.
Legal limitations
California Government Code Section 6254.21 prohibits the display of home addresses or telephone numbers of any elected or appointed official on the Internet by any state or local agency without first obtaining the written permission of that individual. To comply with this statute, property searches are allowed by assessment number, fee parcel number, or street address only. Searches are not available by name, and search results will not include the name of the assessed owner.
